Abstract

Vatican, BAV, Pal. lat. 485 is a monastic schoolbook for the education of rural priests. The codex was produced in the abbey of St. Nazarius in Lorsch between the years 850/860–875 and used in the local monastic school between ca. 850–950. This thesis is an examination of the extent to which the presence, arrangement, and function of a computistical collection within this clerical compendium can be explained using a contextual, comparative, and digital approach.
