Abstract
This paper (in Dutch) discusses consequentialistic (Philip Pettit) and deontological (John Rawls) moral theories from the hermeneutic perspective proposed by Paul Ricoeur. It is suggested that from a hermeneutic perspective the antagonistic contrast between consequentialistic and deontological positions changes into a dialectical contrast. This could mean that in stead of prescriptive, the moral theories discussed are to be considered as descriptive and evaluative, and that normativity doesn't follow from prescription, but from the moral appeal that a moral theory makes.
