De balans tussen het nieuwe werken en het gezinsleven

Abstract

De relatie tussen de werkbeleving en de integratie van werk op de psychologische beschikbaarheid van ouders in het nieuwe werken: moderatie-effect van de werksituatie. This research investigated how work-related mood and the integration of work and family life influences the psychological availability of dual-earner parents (N= 110) and whether this influence is mediated by parents’ work situations. This study shows that parents’ work-related negative mood is related to a decrease in psychological availability, and that this relation is not mediated by parents’ work situations. On the contrary, the work-related positive mood correlates with a higher psychological availability, whereas this relation is mediated by parents’ work situations. Parents who tended to integrate work and family life are less psychological available for their children than parents who tend to segment work and family life. This relation is not mediated by parents’ work situations. These findings suggest that work-related mood and the integration of work and family life are associated with different degrees of parents’ psychological availability. Furthermore, the work situations of parents only mediates the relation between positive mood and psychological availability.
