Abstract

Shape-shifting particles are particles whose shape can dynamically change between two or more different shapes. It is predicted that these shape-shifters have properties unobtainable by their static counterparts. In this research project, we present a route to obtain pNIPAM grafted cubic colloids. First, it was showed how to obtain cubic colloids initiators. These cubic initiators were then used to graft pNIPAM brushes. The amount of NIPAM grafted was controlled by different parameters, such as initiator surface coverage, reaction time and monomer concentration.
