Abstract
Intelligent Tutoring Systems are an artificial-intelligence approach to computer-assisted learning. Automatic assessment is an important part of these systems. Keeping track of a student's knowledge by means of automatic assessment allows the Intelligent Tutoring System to grade this student, and find suitable exercises for the student to practice with. This thesis gives an overview of automatic assessment within Intelligent Tutoring Systems.
