Caregiver trust: a positive influencer for medical appointment attendance? The association of caregiver trust, health literacy and distance to clinic on medical appointment attendance rates of people living with HIV in rural South Africa

Abstract

In this master’s thesis, different predictors of medical appointment attendance of HIV patients in rural South Africa are measured by existing quantitative data. The following predictors where significant: caregiver trust, gender and age. Health literacy is a partial mediator between caregiver trust and medical appointment attendance.
