Abstract

This MSc GIMA thesis studies the implementation of a SDI (Spatial Data Infrastructure) for offshore pipeline integrity management at GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V.. Three data sources participate in a prototype SDI: Pipeline, Seabed and Permit information. Selected standards (PODS, SSDM, LADM) are integrated in a conceptual UML model and related to international geographical data standards. From company databases real life data is used in two use cases to demonstrate the principle of data exchange and reuse. The main conclusion is that a gap exists between pipeline industry standards and international geographical information standards that needs to be bridged.
