The Final Act of the Etruscans: Perceptions of Etruscanness in Imperial Rome

Abstract

This thesis reconsiders the end of the Etruscans as an independent culture after the perceived full integration into the Roman empire in the first century BCE, by looking at the persistence of perception of the Etruscan language, religion and heritage in Rome from this period until the second century CE.
