Beyond The Honeymoon Phase: A Comparative Analysis of Culture Shock Experienced by Dutch and American Students Abroad

Abstract

This study attempts to create insight into culture shock and the adjustment process among student sojourners of different nationalities to contribute to existing knowledge and literature. In particular, this study examines how culture shock-related difficulties are experienced and dealt with by Dutch students in the U.S. and American students in the Netherlands and how this may relate to pre-departure preparation.
