The Rectilinear Crossing Number

Abstract

In this thesis we will treat the rectilinear crossing number, a specialization of the concept of the crossing number of a graph. In their paper ``Bounds for Rectilinear Crossing Numbers'' published in 1993, Daniel Bienstock and Nathiel Dean proved a number of interesting results. They characterise the behaviour of the rectilinear crossing number by the normal crossing number.
