Abstract
This research looks at degrees of transparency amongst municipalities. After years of digitalisation and with new laws regarding freedom of information, more quantitative research was needed specifically for the Dutch case of transparency. The research involved emailing 100 municipalities and asking them for an overview of their spent subsidies. It shows how (political) key figures can play a crucial role in making transparency something more feasible for street level agents; whilst also showing that records of subsidies can be much more universalised to truly boost transparency on a national level.
