Abstract
Due to the working environment and social connections of Yuhanna al-Armani, he was able to depict the Coptic narrative of “The life of John the Baptist”, which would otherwise have been unknown to the painter as for his Armenian background. The several conditions, such as his business relationships and marital life, that allowed the painter to learn about the narrative will be examined.
